Processing time

Embassy New Delhi: usually 15 working days from receipt; high season longer, special cases up to 45 working days.

Stay period

Up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Stay on the sticker is the cap.

About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visitor C. Usual staff path: register and pay on Application Portal Norway (UDI), print and sign schengen.pdf, then lodge at VFS in India. The Embassy in New Delhi decides (some files go on to UDI). Do not use visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/nor — it does not load. Helpline +91 22 67866021 · info.norwayin@vfshelpline.com.

Do not buy tickets first. Do not tick multiple-entry unless they can show a need. Honorary consuls in Chennai and Kolkata are not visa counters. Svalbard is outside Schengen — they need two or more entries to go there and return.

Documents Required

Original current passport and all previous passports: 3 months after leaving Schengen, issued within 10 years, 2 blank pages. Copies of biodata and all used pages. Signed UDI schengen.pdf. Checklist printed, ticked, and signed
Photo: white background, under 6 months, 35–40 mm. Insurance min. EUR 30,000, whole Schengen, whole stay (as a rule bought in India)
Round-trip itinerary with dates (max 90 days). Do not buy the ticket until the visa is granted. Agency trip: booking certificate; independent: detailed plan. Package/cruise: payment confirmation. Hotels in Norway and every other Schengen stop
Employment, school, or studies plus leave. Bank statements last 3 months. Own funds of at least NOK 500 per person per day (bank or 6 months wage spec) mean they do not need a sponsor form
English or Norwegian; other languages: authorised translation. A4 copies, no staples. Minor: legalised consent as on the checklist

How to apply

Register and pay on Application Portal Norway. Print schengen.pdf. Lodge up to 6 months ahead (9 months seafarers). The same page also says register 3 months before the trip — keep both.
Book VFS. Appear in person. Embassy: apply at least 4 weeks out (courier). Delhi +2 days on top of embassy time; other India VACs +4–6 days. Do not use visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/nor — it does not load.
Same page also prints 15 calendar days from embassy receipt, or 45 calendar days if the file goes to UDI.
Urgent business / no slot: Visum.New.Delhi@mfa.no. Status: VFS first; Embassy will not brief while the passport is still with them.

Who can apply

Indian ordinary-passport holders living in India: VFS in India if Norway is the main destination.
Embassy also handles Norway C for Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives — not this India holiday path unless they lodge at an India VAC as that page allows.
Honorary consuls (Chennai, Kolkata) and the Consulate General Mumbai are not tourist visa counters.
Residence permit / D: UDI — not this visitor C.

VFS after lodging. Do not chase the Embassy inside 15 days from embassy receipt. Collect at the same VAC or courier as booked.
