Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visitor visa. India is not on the BOCA visa-exempt list. Do not send them visa-free. Usual staff path: fill https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, print and sign, file in person at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center that covers their state (New Delhi, Chennai, or Mumbai).

TECO India fees from 1 January 2025, not refunded: single INR 4,200 / multiple INR 8,400 (2 working days); express single INR 6,300 / multiple INR 12,600 (1 working day). BOCA overseas table: USD 50 single / USD 100 multiple. Quote the INR amount the India office takes. Telegram INR 1,600 if the file is referred to BOCA.

Stay is 14, 30, 60 or 90 days as granted. Validity is generally 3 months to 1 year. If the visa is 60 or 90 days and has no “no extension” remark, they may apply at NIA for an extension (up to 120 or 90 days). Submit Monday–Friday 09:00–11:00; collect 15:30–16:30.

BOCA visitor visa

• Passport valid at least 6 months
• Completed application form with two photos taken within the past 6 months
• Outbound air ticket, or proof of a steamship ticket
• Papers that show the purpose of the visit

Fill the form only at https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw. Print it and sign it. File at the TECO counter.

Use this only if the Indian ordinary passport already has a qualifying visa or residence document. It is not the default tourist path. BOCA (updated 5 August 2026): Indian citizens may apply online at https://niaspeedy.immigration.gov.tw/nia_southeast/.

They need a regular passport valid at least 6 months from arrival, a return or onward ticket, and must never have worked in Taiwan as a blue-collar worker. They also need at least one of: a valid resident or permanent-resident card, a valid entry visa (e-visa counts), or a resident card or visa that expired less than 10 years before arrival in Taiwan — issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, a Schengen country, the United Kingdom, or the United States. Work permits in that list do not count.

Print the certificate and carry the supporting papers. Entry is refused if the papers are missing. Stay 30 days from the day after arrival. Certificate valid 90 days, multiple entries. If they do not qualify, use the visitor visa.

BOCA Travel Authorization Certificate

• Valid regular (ordinary) passport, at least 6 months from arrival — not a temporary, emergency, or informal travel document
• Return or onward air or ferry ticket
• Qualifying Australia / Canada / Japan / Korea / New Zealand / Schengen / UK / US visa or resident card (valid, or expired less than 10 years before arrival)
• Printed Travel Authorization Certificate
