About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders need an entry visa for South Sudan for a normal holiday. MFA encourages foreigners to process entry visas through a South Sudanese embassy in their country. India is served by the Embassy of South Sudan in New Delhi (MEA Protocol).

Do not sell a tourist e-Visa — MFA states South Sudan is developing an eServices portal (including e-Visa), not that one is available yet. Fee is not published on the MFA visas page — confirm with New Delhi.

Documents Required

MFA visas page — typical file

  • Completed and signed visa form (original + copies of supporting papers, including passport photo page and yellow-fever card)
  • Passport valid at least six months, with an unused visa page
  • One recent passport-size photo
  • Yellow-fever vaccination certificate
  • Return ticket and address in South Sudan (e.g. hotel) for tourist
  • Bank statements showing funds for the stay (personal visit)
  • For family / personal visits: entry permit arranged via Immigration in South Sudan

Submit in person. Confirm the exact checklist with New Delhi before lodging.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

How to apply

  1. Contact Embassy of South Sudan, New Delhi, for the current form, fee, and hours.
  2. Lodge in person with a complete file before travel (MFA: filing does not guarantee issue).
  3. Collect in person or via a delegate with a letter, ID, and fee receipt.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary passports: consular visa before travel via New Delhi.
  • Not visa-free. MFA: some nationalities may enter without a visa or get visas on arrival under bilateral rules — do not sell VOA as the India holiday default without New Delhi confirmation.
  • South Sudanese travelling on foreign passports also need a visa (MFA).
