About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders get a tourist visa on arrival. No pre-approval. They must meet the entry rules. Not for work.

Usual staff path: IMUGA Traveller Declaration, then visa at the airport if admitted. Immigration Act: stay up to 30 days with no visa fee. Papers do not guarantee entry. The officer decides under the Immigration Act.

Documents Required

  • Passport or travel document with an MRZ, valid at least 1 month (extended-validity passports are not accepted)
  • Confirmed return / onward tickets
  • Prepaid confirmed booking at a registered hotel or guesthouse
  • Enough funds for the stay, or a sponsorship already approved by Maldives Immigration
  • Meet the visa and passport rules of the next country
  • Traveller Declaration on IMUGA within 96 hours before arrival (free)
  • Yellow fever certificate only if they arrive from, or recently travelled through, a yellow-fever-risk country (children under 1 year exempt)

Children and minors need their own passport. Each traveller, including children, files their own Traveller Declaration.

About This Visa

Use this only if they need to stay longer than the free 30-day arrival visa. Apply on the IMUGA portal. From 23 April 2026: passport and hotel details auto-fill; upload a passport-size photo from the last 12 months. Processing about 48 hours.

The April 2026 notice does not reprint a fee. The Immigration Act annex charges MVR 750 for the paid tourist permit in section 10(c) (every three months or part of three months). Stay within the visa they hold. No work.

  • Log in and enter the passport number, or upload the bio page if the record does not match (renewed passport)
  • Passport-size photograph taken within the last 12 months
  • Update hotel details on the form if they changed accommodation

How to apply

  1. Open https://imuga.immigration.gov.mv only. File the Traveller Declaration within 96 hours before the flight. Free. Every traveller, including children.
  2. Travel with the MRZ passport, return ticket, prepaid registered booking, and proof of funds.
  3. Visa is stamped on arrival if the officer admits them.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: tourist visa on arrival if they meet the entry rules.
  • Usual staff path: IMUGA declaration, then visa at the port. No High Commission file for this tourist visa.
  • Transit with no Maldives immigration clearance is not this path.
