About This Visa

Use this when they need a social-visit Multiple Entry Visa, not the 30-day visa-free stay. IMI: Indian citizens are eligible. Validity one year. Each stay 30 days. No extension. Tour groups are not eligible.

They must show enough funds and a confirmed return ticket. Official fee is RM 100.00 for Indian citizens. File on https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my when they actually need this visa — not as a default tourist product while the waiver is in force.

Documents Required

IMI types of visas

  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Valid confirmed return ticket

eVISA terms also ask at the border for a passport valid 6 months, the eVISA printout or digital note, and paid accommodation if applicable. Under-18s must upload a birth certificate on the portal.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

How to apply

  1. Tourist trip of 30 days or less (until 31 Dec 2026): no visa. File MDAC three days before arrival. Carry passport, return ticket, and hotel booking.
  2. If they need a visa: official portal only — https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. Apply from outside Malaysia. eVISA terms: apply 14 days before travel; 2–7 working days after a complete paid file.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: visa-free until 31 December 2026 for tourism, business, social, or transit (up to 30 days). Not work.
  • Usual staff path: visa-free + MDAC.
  • Multiple Entry Visa (RM 100) only if they need that social-visit product.
  • Work and long-term passes still need a visa with reference — the ESD notice says the tourist waiver does not cover employment passes.

MDAC

Compulsory for this path. Official form: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main. High Commission: submit three days before arrival. The MDAC site: the trip must fall within 3 days of submission (including that day). IMI also allows MDAC through the official MyNIISe app. This is not a visa.

If they need a visa

The official eVISA terms (updated 8 September 2026) still list India among nationalities that need a Single Entry Visa for social visit. Use the High Commission / IMI waiver for tourism until 31 December 2026. Use https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my when a visa is actually required (after the waiver, or for work / VDR / other products).

High Commission New Delhi eVISA note: visa fee by nationality; processing fee RM 105; convenience fee extra. All payments non-refundable on the eVISA terms. Print the approved eVISA on A4. Live chat on the portal, 24×7.
