About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visa. They are not visa-free. India is on the official fee-calculator nationality list. Usual tourist path: Tourist e-Visa (T-B3) on https://laoevisa.gov.la. The portal only issues this tourist type online.

Single entry. Stay 30 days from arrival. Enter any day from the approval letter until it expires (60 days). Print one copy of the letter and travel on the same ordinary passport. No paid or unpaid work.

Official calculator for India: US$ 50.00 per applicant. Bank charges are extra. The fee is not refunded if the file is refused, cancelled, or they enter at a non-e-Visa port.

About This Visa

The official e-Visa FAQ: if they enter at a port that is not on the e-Visa list, they must take visa on arrival. The e-Visa fee is not refunded.

Prefer the e-Visa when they will use a listed port. The e-Visa site does not print a VOA fee. Do not quote agency tables.

Documents Required

The e-Visa FAQ does not print a VOA document list. Carry the ordinary passport used for travel. Do not add agency extras.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

How to apply

  1. Open https://laoevisa.gov.la only. Apply Now. Confirm the email, fill the form in English, upload the papers, pay US$ 50 (bank charge extra).
  2. FAQ: arrival date no more than 60 days from apply date. The same FAQ also says the system only allows applying 5 days before arrival. Follow what the form allows that day.
  3. Wait 3 working days (Lao time). Print one approval letter (black and white is fine if the QR is readable).
  4. Enter at an e-Visa port. Use the e-Visa lane, not the visa-on-arrival queue.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: e-Visa T-B3 on https://laoevisa.gov.la. India is on the official nationality list.
  • Usual staff path: e-Visa. The online portal only issues tourist T-B3.
  • Visa on arrival only if they enter at a port that does not take e-Visa.

e-Visa ports

Official list: Wattay International Airport (Vientiane); Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge I (Vientiane); Luang Prabang International Airport; Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge II (Savannakhet); Pakse International Airport; Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge IV (Bokeo); Boten International Checkpoint; Boten Railway Station; Khamsavath Railway Station.

They can enter at any of those ports, not only the one named on the form. A non-listed port needs visa on arrival, and the e-Visa fee is not refunded.

Embassy

Embassy of the Lao PDR, New Delhi (Lao MFA mission list)
S-420, M Block Road, Block S, Greater Kailash Part II, New Delhi 110048
Phone: 011-41327352
Email: laoembdelhi@gmail.com

Usual tourist path is the official e-Visa. Do not call this embassy for e-Visa status — the FAQ says check online only.

How to track

https://laoevisa.gov.la/checkstatus with the application ID and passport number. Approved letters go to the email used at apply. Reprint from that email if they lose the letter. Do not ask the Lao embassy to track an e-Visa.
