About This Visa
Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visa. They are not visa-free. The Embassy in New Delhi (19 November 2025) and MEA (from 22 November 2025) both say an ordinary Indian passport needs a visa to enter or transit Iran.
The MFA portal is the first step, not a download-and-fly e-Visa. Apply on https://evisa.mfa.ir (form at https://evisatraveller.mfa.ir/en/request/apply/). Choose Tourist, nationality India, ordinary passport, and a Place of Issue in India: Embassy New Delhi, Consulate General Mumbai, or Consulate General Hyderabad.
After approval, collect the sticker at that mission. The New Delhi tourist page is for sightseeing or visiting relatives, alone or in a group through an authorised tour operator. Some files need an interview. The nationality on the form must match the passport they travel on.
