About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders without a qualifying US visa or Green Card need a prior authorisation (Temporary Admission Visa) to enter Chile as holders of permanencia transitoria: tourism, recreation, sport, health, study, business management, family or similar short stays under 90 days, without intent to settle. Apply only on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sistema de Atención Consular (SAC) at https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/.

Select the Chilean consulate for the place of residence: New Delhi for its listed northern/eastern states plus Bangladesh and Nepal; Mumbai for other Indian states/UTs and for Sri Lanka, Maldives or Afghanistan. Residence visas are not taken at consulates since 12 February 2022 — those go to SERMIG. Lodging papers does not oblige the consul to grant the visa.

Documents Required

Prior authorisation / visa

  • Online SAC form: reason for travel and length of stay
  • Multiple entry: written justification with number of entries
  • Colour photo, white background, passport size 5 × 5 cm, full face, no glasses, scarf or hat
  • Copy of the personalization page of a valid passport
  • If applying outside the country of nationality: proof of residence / migratory status there, or reason for presence plus entry stamp / proof of entry
  • Own economic means: at least last three salary slips and bank statements with the last three months’ movements (family sponsor only in the kinship cases allowed, with apostilled/legalised link papers)
  • No Chilean entry ban under migration rules
  • Consulate may ask for more papers, including an apostilled/legalised criminal-record certificate, and may require an in-person interview with originals
  • Indian business travellers: sponsorship letter from a company in India or Chile, legalised and apostilled, confirming business purpose
  • Minors: parents/legal representatives lodge with apostilled/legalised link or guardianship papers; travel rules for under-18s as the consulate requires

Upload PDFs without special characters in file names. Pay only after the approval email (30-day window). Print the electronic visa for entry.
